Christy Finch sinks the Blues as he hits a hat trick

Bury Town let another lead slip away as Christy Finch stole the show with a well taken hat trick. Finch had the first good chance for the visitors on 7 minutes firing a shot on target but Tevan Allen blocked the danger. Josh Mayhew tried to put Ryan Jolland through on goal on 9 minutes but the defence cleared the ball from inside the six-yard box. Norwich opened the scoring on 12 minutes when a miss hit shot fell kindly to the feet of Finch and he shot past Bury keeper Neil O’Sullivan from close range. Another Bury attack on 15 minutes saw Bradley Barber put a great cornier into Kyran Clement to head inches over the bar. On 22 minutes a throw in for Bury was only half cleared and fell to Tevan Allen who hit a shot wide of the far post. Allen was involved again on 27 minutes this time clearing a shot from Tim Henery in the Bury box. Bury got the equalizer after a slick build up and Andrew Cusack getting around the back of the defence to smash the ball low past the keeper on 35 minutes. Josh Mayhew had a good chance to give Bury the lead late in the half. On 40 minutes Mayhew got the ball on the edge of the box but shot over the bar. Norwich went close to doubling their lead in injury time when Adam Hipperson put a free kick the wrong side of the far post.

Half Time: Bury Town 1 Norwich United 1

Bury wasted no time in going in front after the break with Josh Mayhew playing a delightful chip over the head of the keeper on 48 minutes from distance. Ryan Jolland went on a run to the by-line and on into the box on 52 minutes but his effort was cleared. Bury were looking in control of the game and had another chance on 56 minutes. Jolland whipping in a cross which was just too long for Luke Reed to put home. Remi Garrett hit a curling strike from the wing which Norwich keeper Andrew Wilton saved with his feet. Norwich soaked up the pressure and Christy Finch got through the Bury defence to net his second on 70 minutes with a good finish. On 77 minutes Norwich substitute Nathan Stewart powered down the wing and on in to the Bury box and found Hipperson who hit a shot from close range but O’Sullivan made the save. Bury kept pressing forward but a swift counter attack from Norwich put Finch through on goal again and he completed his hat trick with a shot to powerful for O’Sullivan to hold as the ball went through his hands and ended up in the back of the Bury net. Bury finished the game on top but could not make the breakthrough. Norwich ended the game with only 10 men after a dangerous tackle on Remi Garrett saw Andrew Eastaugh awarded a red card on 91 minutes. Another tough to take defeat for Bury see them end a disappointing January with another loss.
