Two second half goals give Bury Town the win

Bury Town got 2017 off to a winning start as they continue their good run of form. Dereham pushed Bury all the way to the final whistle and took an early lead on 7 minutes. Rhys Logan got down the wing and crossed the ball in to the box for Joe Gatting to slot his shot past Bury keeper Neil O’Sullivan. Gatting had another chance on 11 minutes, getting on the end of a cross in to the box but Gatting put his shot over the bar. Bury almost grabbed an equalizer on 14 minutes when Ollie Hughes put a cross in to Bradley Barber who hit a curling strike which Joshua Glover got a hand to and made the save. On 31 minutes Darcy Death put a long throw in to Tom Debenham who made Glover make another good one handed save. Gatting had a chance to double Dereham’s lead on 38 minutes when a cross in found him but he could only shoot wide. another long throw from Death on 39 minutes went to Tevan Allen in the box but Allen put his shot high over the bar.

Second half Bury had the better chances to get something from the game and should have had a penalty on 54 minutes when a long throw from Death caused a goalmouth scramble and saw Daniel Morphew block a shot with his arm while trying to clear the ball of the line but the Ref did not see it through the crowd of players all trying to get to the ball. Bury got the equalizer on 60 minutes when Death put a free kick over the defence for Ollie Hughes to flick over the keeper and in to the back of the net. on 63 minutes Luke Read went close for Bury but pulled his shot wide after a good attacking move from the home side. Bury kept the pressure on and on 70 minutes took the lead. Hughes battled down the wing and put in the perfect cross for Tevan Allen to head home. Bury substitute Josh Mayhew got around the back of the defence on 84 minutes and put in a low cross put the defence managed to clear the ball out for a corner. From the corner Mayhew found Debenham in the box but he put his shot wide. Bury took the win but Dereham pushed Bury throughout the game but two second half goal proved enough for the Blues.
