Great team performance sees Bury Town finish 2016 in style
Bury Town end the year with a six-goal tally after putting in their best team performance of the season so far. A couple of early chances from Bury saw Tom Debenham side foot a chance just wide on 4 minutes and Ollie Hughes charging through and winning the ball of the keeper but shooting inches wide of the near post on 6 minutes. Wroxham had a chance on 13 minutes when Jack Newman got the ball in to the box but couldnâ€™t control his strike as Bury cleared the danger. Bury were awarded a penalty on 20 minutes after Wroxham keeper Callum Robinson blocked off Ollie Hughes and picked up a lenient yellow card for the challenge and Tevan Allen stepped up to smash his spot kick passed the fortunate keeper. Bury were rampant and almost got their second from another sweet free kick from Bradley Barber with cracked the base of the near post on 26 minutes. Hughes set up Luke Read with a header on 34 minutes but Robinson pulled off a great save to tip it over the bar. Bury created chance after chance and went close again on 40 minutes, a smart attacking move saw Barber shoot just wide. Wroxham had the ball in the net on 45 minutes after a mistake from Bury keeper Neil Oâ€™Sullivan who dropped the ball and gifted a chance to the visitors but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Wroxham had very few chances first half but came out fighting second half and got themselves back in the game with an early equalizer, Adam Plumstead capitalizing on a lapse of concentration from the home side at the back and scoring on 48 minutes. Bury were back in front two minutes later with a great team effort. Noel Aitkens put a through ball to Hughes who found Luke Read with a perfect pass and Read netted his first goal. a short corner from Bury found Bradley Barber who scored from out wide after a slip from the Wroxham keeper took his cross over the goal line. Bradley Barber put a corner in for Read to head home his second goal on 61 minutes. Remi Garrett chipped the keeper on 65 minutes but Robinson got a hand to it to put it over the bar. From the resulting corner, Leon Ottley-Gooch blasted a shot in from close range but Robinson made a good block save on the line. Noel Aitken strike on 70 minutes was cleared off the line by Plumstead. Bury looked sharp going forward and added to their lead on 81 minutes when Ollie Hughes won the ball from the last defender and went around the keeper and walked the ball in to the net. Jack Newman had a chance to pull a goal back for Wroxham on 80 minutes shooting from inside the six-yard box but Oâ€™Sullivan got down quickly to make the save. Ollie Hughes grabbed his second goal with a repeat of his first again beating his man and the keeper to take a well-deserved brace, Hughes showed great skill to beat the last defender and go around the keeper twice to give Bury their biggest win of the season. Bury put in one of their best performances and finished the year off in style.
