Two penalties for Tilbury but ends all square at Chadfields

Two penalties awarded to the home side was the difference between a win for the Blues and only taking a point from a game that was there to be won by both sides. On 3 minutes Tilbury’s Reese Conway hit a shot from the edge of the box which was deflected goalward but Bury keeper Neil O’Sullivan made the save. Bury had a chance on 13 minutes with Ollie Hughes going down the wing and playing a good cross in to Luke Read in the box but the defence cleared the danger before Read could strike. Josh Mayhew hit a solid strike for Bury on 14 minutes but Lewis Hawes made a great one handed save to put the ball over the bar. On 17 minutes Bradley Barber played a short corner to Hughes who played a great deep cross to the far post where Mayhew was unmarked but Mayhew could not connect with the ball. Hughes got around the back of the defence for Bury on 22 minutes to set up Mayhew but his miss hit strike went well wide. Bury were probing forward looking to grab a goal at every opportunity and on 30 minutes Luke Read played Mayhew through on goal but with just the keeper to beat put his shot high over the bar. Bury gave away a penalty on 37 minutes but the Bury keeper made his second penalty save in a week to keep the scores level at the break.

A much more even half saw Tilbury start to get forward more but it was Bury who had the early chances. on 48 minutes Josh Mayhew crossed the ball in to Ollie Hughes who fired a low pacey shot goal award but Louis Hawes saved brilliantly with his feet on the goal line. Bury broke the deadlock on 55 minutes, a corner in from Bradley Barber was headed home by Hughes to give the Blues the lead. Luke Read should have doubled Bury’s lead on 64 minutes when he broke through on goal but put his shot high over the bar. Ryan Jolland created a chance for Bury on 74 minutes with some great skilful play as he got through on goal through the center but his pass to Hughes was cleared by the defence. Tilbury pulled level from the spot after Bury gave away a second penalty on 79 minutes. this time Bury keeper Neil ‘O’Sullivan could not prevent Tony Martin smashing the ball home from the spot. Both side were pushing to get the win and had chances to grab the winner. On 81 minutes Bury’s Ryan Jolland went on another run through the center and put a shot just wide of the far post. On 88 minutes Lewis Jaggs hit a rocket of a strike from distance which curling inches wide of the Bury post. Martin tried his luck to loop a shot over O’Sullivan on 92 minutes but the back-tracking keeper made the catch. Bury had a clear penalty shout on 95 minutes went a cross in deep in to the box saw Tom Debenham pushed over in the box but the officials missed it and waved play on. Both side had chances to win this game but in the end the points were shared.
