Easy win for Bowers & Pitsea as Blues record another defeat

Bowers & Pitsea ran out comfortable winners as Bury Town continue their recent poor form and slip down the league. Brad Warner made the most of poor defending from Bury and netted Bowers first gaol after just 3 minutes. Bradley Barber put a dangerous free kick in the box on 12 minutes but Tom Debenham could not reach it coming in at the far post. Luke Read crossed in to Josh Mayhew on 16 minutes but Mayhew volleyed high over the bar. With Bury barely troubling the home keeper it wasn’t long before Bowers doubled their lead. David Knight getting to a rebound and putting the ball over Neil O’Sullivan who was still on the ground. Some solid team work from Bowers kept the pressure on Bury as they continued to win the ball from the visitors. On 25 minutes Ben Sartain put a free kick in to Lewis Manor who shot just wide. Bury Towns best chance of the half came on 29 minutes, Sam Reed got down the wing and played the cross in to Mayhew who put a deft header an inch wide of the far post.

Half Time: Bowers & Pitsea 2 Bury Town 0

Bury played better after the break but things went from bad to worse for the Blues. Sam Reed got through the center on 53 minutes and with Ollie Hughes in support Reed made the cross but Hughes headed wide. Bury brought on Remi Garrett and Ryan Jolland and began to see more of the action going forward but on 60 minutes Bury gave away a penalty and Warner stepped up to smash home from the spot. On 64 minutes Bury had another chance when a Barber free kick found Reed who made the header goalward but the keeper saved on the line. Hughes fired a shot over the bar from the six-yard line on 67 minute after another good move forward from Bury. Josh Mayhew pulled a deserved goal back for Bury on 70 minutes, a great give and go between Mayhew and Read saw Mayhew out fox the defence and slot a shot past the keeper. Bury finished strong but with Blues pushing forward got caught on the break and Ben Sartain finished the rout off on 86 minutes. Bury Town head the wrong way in the table and drop to 5th. A tough game with too many yellow cards but Bowers & Pitsea took a deserved and comfortable win.
