Bury Town go through to the draw for the next round

Two great goals were enough to see Bury Town make it through to the next round of this seasons Buildbase FA Trophy. Sittingbourne hit the ground running from the kick off and Bury struggled to contain the relentless attacks. On 6 minutes a corner in from the home side was smashed against the cross bar. Tom Carlse broke down the wing on 12 minutes and played a great low pass across the box which beat the keeper but Jordan Gallacher couldn’t connect with the ball, sliding in at the far post. Three minutes later more Sittingbourne pressure saw Mile Cornwell’s sweet strike hit the post. Bury rode out the early pressure and started to play their game. On 17 minutes Luke Read got on the end of a great cross and went one on one with the keeper who bravely saved at the feet of Read. Bury took the lead against the run of play on 23 minutes from a long throw in from Darcy Death and a flick on header was perfect for Ollie Canfer to head in to the far corner. Sittingbourne continued to press and on 33 minutes Callacher had another chance but Bury keeper Neil O’Sullivan made a great stop. Bury had two late chances to increase their lead. First Remi Garrett’s cross found Noel Aikens at the back of the box and the keeper made a great save. From the resulting corner Bradley Barber again found Aitkens and again the keeper made a great save from Aikens solid header.

Remi Garrett broke through the defence on 53 minutes but quick reactions from Sittingbourne keeper Simon Overland enabled him to make the save. Bury enjoyed the possession and controlled the half. Garrett went on a run down the wing on 57 minutes and a perfect cross in was hit wide by Canfer.
