Last minutes winner as Canfer heads Bury to three points.

Bury Town left it late to grab a goal and the win in a game that was a scrappy affair at times. Bury are still struggling with fire power up front with Ollie Hughes and Josh Mayhew still side-lined through injury Bury ground out this result. Bury took just two minutes to create their first chance. A free kick from Luke Reed played deep to the far post was chested in to the keeper’s arms by the defence. On 6 minutes another Bury free kick this time from Ryan Jolland saw a good block save from the home keeper. Jolland set up Nick Ingram on 17 minutes with the perfect through ball but Ingram’s touch lacked power and the keeper collected the ball. A mistake at the back from Bury found keeper Neil O’Sullivan out of position on 19 minutes but the resulting strike on the open goal was headed clear by Kyran Clement who read the danger well. Brentwood were starting to settle in to their game and on 32 minutes Sam Owusu put a free kick in to Marcus Milner in the box but Milner fired over the bar. Ingram won the ball in midfield on 33 minutes and went on to set up Reed in the box but again the strike was put over the bar. Milner broke down the wing for Brentwood on 40 minutes and played a great cross in to the box but Brentwood could not get a player on the end of it.

The second half started off as the first half had. Both sides struggling to take control of the game. on 59 minutes the chances started to open up again. Remi Garrett got on the end of a long pass out wide and made a shooting chance for himself but hit his strike over the bar. Lamar Reynolds tested the Bury keeper with a powerful free kick on 62 minutes, O’Sullivan making the save at full stretch with one hand. With chances coming at both ends of the pitch it was Bury up next. On 64 minutes Garrett got on the end of another long ball and was in on goal, Garrett’s solid strike was saved by the advancing keeper. Milner tried to carve something out for Brentwood a minute later with another skilful run down the wing and put the perfect cross in to the box but with no one near it the ball went harmlessly out of play. Remi Garrett had another shot saved on 67 minutes after taking up a good position on the edge of the box. with the game looking to be heading for a goalless draw late chances from both side saw O’Sullivan pull of a double save for Bury on 82 minutes from Shad Ngandu. Sam Reed hit a low strike from the edge of the box on 88 minutes but James MaCree got down well to save. With the final whistle almost up Remi Garrett read a long ball to perfection and ran the ball out wide to play a great cross in to the six-yard box for Ollie Canfer to head Bury in front on 89 minutes with a towering header. Brentwood had no time to recover and the win went to Bury who strengthen the second place league position.
