Bury Town finally end their win drought against relegated Redbridge.

Bury Town finally managed to get another win after a 15 game wait. A real end of season feel to this game on a heavy pitch which was borderline playable. Bury took control of the first half and on 5 minutes Remi Garrett crossed in to Josh Mayhew in the box but Mayhews header went just wide of the far post. Connor Hall headed the ball into the net on 6 minutes only to ruled out for offside. on 14 minutes Ollie Hughes broke through to the by-line and crossed in to Mayhew who hit a low shot towards the bottom corner but Niklas Freund made a great one handed save to push the ball out of play. Bury went ahead on 19 minutes, a corner in from Garrett was headed home by Darcy De’ath. Redbridge had a great chance to equalize on 32 minutes, Joe Gent got in to the Bury box but his shot went wide. another opportunity for Redbridge fell to Hussain Jaffa on 38 minutes but his soft header from a corner was easy for Neil O’Sullivan to save.

Second half had the feel of an end of season game with very little offered in front of goal from either side. It took until the 63 minute for Bury to have another chance to increase their lead. Sam Reed found Hughes in the box but with no power in Hughes header it was an easy save for the keeper. On 74 minutes Reed chipped a cross in to Mayhew who headed in to the path of John Kennedy who shot just over the bar. Redbridge had a chance in the next attack Samuel Smith got in to a great position and fired a shot goal ward which O’Sullivan blocked but the ball went back to Smith who hit the post with his second attempt. Ollie Hughes should have put Bury two goals up on 94 minutes after he broke through the defence and into the box but his shot was saved by Freund with a brilliant low one handed save. Not an entertaining game but Bury will be happy to finally get another win in before the season ends.
