AFC Sudbury too strong for injury hit Bury Town.

Under strength Bury Town were second best for most of the first half as Sudbury controlled the game. Sudbury set their stall out early with their first chance coming with just three minutes on the clock. Jordan Blackwell with a snaking run through the midfield and on in to the box but Neil O’Sullivan was equal to Blackwell’s shot saving well. Four minutes later another chance fell to the home side, this time Luke Callander’s thumping shot pulled another great save from O’Sullivan. With Bury on the back foot Sudbury had attack after attack but the Bury defence stood firm until the 39th minute when Sudbury finally broke the deadlock. After another great save by O’Sullivan the rebound went out to Callander outside the box who fired in off the near post to give Sudbury the lead going in to the break.

Half Time: AFC Sudbury 1 Bury Town 0

After the interval Bury started brightly as they made more of a game of it and took the game to Sudbury but still never seriously troubled keeper Marcus Garnham. After a series of corners won by Bury which came to nothing Bury won a free kick just outside the box but Connor Hall’s effort went high over the bar. With Bury chasing for the equalizer they left themselves open at the back and on 81 minutes Liam Wales came off the bench and put Sudbury two goals ahead with a tight angled shot in the box which went across O’Sullivan and into the top corner. Bury’s best chance of the game to score came at the end when Ollie Canfer worked his way across midfield and finding Daniel Hammett just inside the box but the youngster pulled his shot wide. Bury Town’s poor form continues as Sudbury make it nine wins in a row and go top of the Ryman Division One North for the first time this season.
