Bury dominant but Thamesmead take the points.

Bury were dominant for large periods of the game but it was a stunning strike by Theo Fairweather Johnson that stole the show. After a steady half an hour Bury started to take more control of the game. on 31 minutes a thumping strike from John Kennedy was deflected into the back of the net only to be ruled out for offside. another chance for the Blues came on 40 minutes when a good move forward ended with Ollie Canfer’s strike hitting the side netting. Just before the break Cemal Ramadan saw his curling effort go just over the bar. The half ended with Bury in control but not able to make the break through.

After the break Bury continued to dominate but Thamesmead keeper Alan Walker was in great form and would deny Bury all afternoon. On 46 minutes Remi Garrett’s through ball found Ollie Hughes through on goal but Walker was out quickly to stop the danger. Then against the run of play, on 54 minutes came a screamer of a strike from midfield from Theo Fairweather Johnson which beat Neil O’Sullivan as it flew in to the back of net to give Thamesmead the lead. Bury continued to push forward and on 57 minutes James Paterson’s in swinging corner hit the bar and again on 65 minutes Ollie Canfer headed against the bar after a long throw in from Darcy De’ath. On 68 minutes Connor Hall’s curling effort was brilliantly saved with one hand by Walker. Thamesmead defended well until the end as Bury couldn’t make any of their chances count.
