Bury Town pick up another point against a new look Soham Town Rangers.

Bury Town earned another point against a new look Soham which included five new signings. A much more competitive game than the away fixture two weeks ago saw Soham more than match Bury for most of the game. Bury got off to a great start with a breath-taking solo goal by Noel Aitkens. With the ball on the half way line Aitkens worked the ball up field past five players and in to the box before slipping his shot under the keeper. Aitkens had the ball in the net again on 16 minutes only to be ruled offside. Soham’s improved side kept the pressure on and Bury found it difficult to keep the ball. Pat Bexfield had the best chance of the half to equalize for the visitors on 43 minutes but his headed effort went over the bar.

Second half the Blues midfield went missing for long periods which lead to Soham enjoying most of the possession. On 60 minutes a long throw in ended at the feet on Ben Sawyer for a tap in but his shot went the wrong side of the post. Soham grabbed the equaliser four minutes later. A cross into the box was meet by a group of players and ended up in the back of the net in what looked like an own goal from Darcy Death. It was difficult to see who got the last touch. Ollie Hughes had the best chance to restore the lead for Bury on 74 minutes when Bury broke forward with some good passing play but Hughes hit the post from close range. Bury got into the game in the last 15 minutes with the introduction of Alex Steed from the bench but could not make their chances count and it was the visitors who were far happier with the result.
