Bury second best as Maldon & Tiptree cruise to three points

Bury Town were in for a miserable afternoon at the Park Drive Stadium. Maldon grabbed the game from the start and were soon in front. Poor Bury defending was an unmarked Sam Newson fire a low shot past Bury Keeper Neil O’Sullivan. It was all Maldon & Tiptree with Bury giving the ball away far to often most of the chances fell to the home side. On 23 minutes Kyle Hammond broke down the wing and crossed a great ball across the face of goal but no one could make it count. In a rare attack from the Blues Tevan Allen tried to chip the keeper from distance but the ball dropped long and landed on the roof of the net. Hammond sent a cross in to the box for Newson on 38 minutes but Newson’s shot was saved by O’Sullivan. On 44 minutes Liam Nash broke through on goal for Maldon but brave goal keeping from O’Sullivan saw him save at the feet of Nash. Bury ended the half without a single shot on target as Maldon & Tiptree were in control.

Half Time: Maldon & Tiptree 1 Bury Town 0

Things did not improve after the interval for Bury and Maldon were quick to get going again. On 47 minutes a strike from Newson was saved by O’Sullivan with one hand. Adam Mills tried to chip O’Sullivan on 51 minutes but the Bury keeper made the save. Bury had a half chance on 58 minutes when Remi Garrett crossed a ball in the box but Sam Reed and Ollie Hughes got in each other’s way as the defence cleared the ball. Ex Bury Town player Rhys Henry hit a brilliant volley on 65 minutes which cannoned back off the crossbar. The second for the home side came on 73 minutes, Sam Newson making the most of more poor defensive play from Bury and striking his second goal past O’Sullivan. Bury were struggling all over the pitch as Maldon continued to dominate the game. Maldon added a third goal to their tally late in the half with a slick attacking move and Kyle Hammond smashed home Maldon’s third. A big game for both side ended with the home side taking a comfortable win.
