Meet The Players of Bury Town Football Club 2016/17:
MANAGER – BEN CHENERY: Ben became manager of the Club in June 2014 after spending 2 years as Assistant Manager. He previously has managerial experience with Chelmsford City and has played professional football for Cambridge and Luton, as well as playing for a host of top flight non-league clubs, and best remembered for scoring the winning goal for Canvey Island in the 2001 FA Trophy Final at Villa Park.
ASSISTANT MANAGER - CHRISTIAN APPLEFORD: Christian joined the club at the beginning of December 2014, taking up the position of Ben’s assistant. He joined from Eastern Counties League side Mildenhall Town after 4 ½ years as manager and has also managed Woodbridge Town.
NOEL AITKENS D.O.B 14-02-1996 – An academy graduate who has slowly made himself part of the first team with some impressive performances, and one who has a bright future in the game.
TEVAN ALLEN - D.O.B 10-11-1996: A former Youth Team player at Dagenham & Redbridge who has progressed through our academy to rightly earn his place in the first team squad. Usually a defender but can also be pushed further up the pitch when required.
BRADLEY BARBER D.O.B 27-02-1986: Bradley joined Bury Town from Felixstowe & Walton United in the summer of 2015. He has previous experience in the Ryman League with Needham Market and is team captain this season. A long term injury hampered his first season with us, he will be looking for a consistent run this term.
OLLIE CANFER D.O.B 01-10-1988: Joined in October 2015 from AFC Sudbury. Ollie had four seasons at Hadleigh United, scoring 18 goals when the Brettsiders won the Thurlow Nunn League title in 2013-14. As well as Sudbury, he has Ryman League experience with Brightlingsea Regent.
ANDREW CUSACK D.O.B 16-03-1988: Left back Andrew signed at Ram Meadow in the summer. He played locally for Walsham-Le-Willows but had great success with Norwich United where he won the Thurlow Nunn League Championship and Cup double in 14/15.
TOM DEBENHAM D.O.B 30-04-1994: A new signing this summer, Tom is a tall defender who can also play in midfield. He has recently returned from a 4 year football scholarship in the USA.
DARCY DE’ATH D.O.B 05-01-1988: Darcy joined from Ipswich Wanderers in the summer of 2015. A central defender, he possess a long throw which can be a useful form of attack.
REMI GARRETT D.O.B 05-06-1993: A prolific striker who joined from Ipswich Wanderers in the summer of 2014. Remi scored 38 goals that season as he fired his side to promotion. He will be looking to transfer his scoring form in to the Ryman League this season.
NICK INGRAM D.O.B 29-10-1997: Nick has followed in his brother Luke’s footsteps who also played for the Blues. Nick originally joined from the Ipswich Town academy but joined permanently this season.
JOHN KENNEDY D.O.B 19-08-1978: John signed for the Blues in the summer of 2011 from Cambridge City and is the longest serving player at the club. John started his career at Ipswich Town. John was a big part of the successful Histon side and also played a big part in Canvey Island’s successful rise up the pyramid. He is First Team coach this season.
DAN HEATH D.O.B 15-04-1990: A new singing in the summer joining from Newmarket Town. Has Ryman League experience with Sudbury and Wroxham and also played for Stanway Rovers.
OLLIE HUGHES D.O.B 11-02-1987: A striker who had great success at Walsham-Le-Willows before joining Leiston and AFC Sudbury. He signed for the Blues after returning to the UK after a year working abroad and was supporter’s player of the year last season. Currently out injured with a broken wrist sustained at Thamesmead earlier this season.
JOSH MAYHEW D.O.B 11-05-1991: A new signing in early January 2015, and made quite an impression on his debut with a hat-trick against Haringey Borough at Ram Meadow. Joined from fellow Division One North side Brightlingsea Regent, but has also had spells with Leiston, Brantham Athletic and Hadleigh United.
LUKE REED D.O.B 19-07-1990: A recent signing from Needham Market after playing at Brightlingsea Regent last season. Also formerly with Hadleigh United, Felixstowe & Walton United, Woodbridge Town, Redbridge and AFC Hornchurch, he has lots of energy to get box to box with great work ethic.
SAM REED D.O.B 06-09-1987: – Sam returned to Bury Town in March 2014 after two seasons in the Southern League with Biggleswade Town. A fans favourite at Ram Meadow who scored and set up plenty of goals in his five previous years with us.
